Los dulces típicos mexicanos además de deliciosos son también una obra de arte culinario, incorporando tradiciones coloniales y prehispánicas son un reflejo de nuestra rica cultura. Morelia es una de las seis ciudades novohispanas donde florecieron las órdenes conventuales femeninas como espacios para garantizar la castidad de las hijas de las élites española. Y más allá de rezos, intrigas políticas y actividades domésticas, las monjas en reclusión dedicaron sus días a la preparación de alimentos, recetas europeas que debieron ser adaptadas a los ingredientes disponibles en el nuevo mundo, proceso que dio origen, entre otros, a los dulces tradicionales. El proyecto casa del dulce busca difundir la gastronomía local, centrado en contar la historia de los dulces regionales morelianos a través de estrategias de interpretación, implementando la tecnología y logrando una interacción con el espectador, con la finalidad de rescatar y promover la tradición dulcera. Se ubica en el centro histórico de la ciudad lo que convierte al proyecto en una arquitectura de integración en un contexto histórico manejando materiales, alturas y ritmo en armonía con el sitio, se propone como arquitectura contemporánea digna del siglo XXI sin llegar a ser un falso histórico.
