Casa de medio camino. Alternativa terapéutica preventiva para pacientes con trastornos mentales en la ciudad de Morelia, Michoacán

Abstract

Halfway house constitutes the ideal scenario for recuperation of psychiatric patients, who have been interned in a psychiatric hospital or specialized clinics during a short or long term, and that could have lost interaction with their social environment. Within these residences it is achieved that patients who leave their psychiatric hospitalization could recover their skills, such as motricial, social and other-type, so that these patients could be reinserted in their own family and social nucleus from where they were previously isolated. The aim of these type of institutions is to promote the social interaction of those patients with their origin communities (family, friends, work or school) and also to avoid relapses that can lead to another psychiatric internment.

La Casa de Medio Camino, constituye el escenario adecuado para la recuperación de pacientes psiquiátricos que han sido internados en un hospital psiquiátrico o clínicas especializadas durante un periodo corto o prolongado y que, probablemente han perdido interacción con su entorno social. En estas residencias se logra que el paciente egresado del internamiento psiquiátrico recupere habilidades motrices, sociales y algunas otras, para que puedan ser reintegrados en su núcleo familiar y en el medio social del cual se le privó durante determinado tiempo. El objetivo principal de estas instituciones es el promover la interacción social de dichos pacientes con su comunidad de origen (familiares, amigos, trabajo, estudio) y evitar recaídas que puedan llegar nuevamente a un internamiento psiquiátrico.
