Centro artesanal en Ocumicho, Michoacán. Proyecto de restauración y refuncionalización

Abstract

The artisan Center is a project that will be set up in the center of the community of Ocumicho Michoacán, on Pino Suárez Street at the corner of Benito Juárez Street. It is located next to the San Pedro parish church. The project aims to reuse a building, bringing back to life a historic complex of the community of Ocumicho Michoacán and provide a new use as an Artisan Center, taking into account first the restoration to be done and the guidelines, policies and strategies required to not affect or alter the historical heritage of the community. The historic complex functioned as a huatapera or community hospital. In where the Master in Architecture José Manuel Martínez describes as a set of buildings and open spaces that served to give shelter and care to the sick Indians, to welcome and shelter travelers and people passing through, also known as a meeting place for priostes and mayordomos, a place that served to evangelize and spread the Catholic religion. Later some elements of the huatapera served as dormitories for the Sisters of the Poor Handmaids of the Sacred Heart. Currently only half of the complex is functioning: the chapel, two barns (which serve as dormitories for the members of the chapel), the bell tower, the kitchen and the courtyard (ekuarho), which make possible the organization and function of the chapel. It is known as Yurishio, which means house of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception, although for the community the term is used to refer to the entire historic complex.

El Centro artesanal, es un proyecto que se plantea habilitar en el centro de la comunidad de Ocumicho Michoacán, en la calle Pino Suárez con esquina calle Benito Juárez. Ubicándose a un costado de la parroquia San Pedro. El proyecto pretende reutilizar un edificio recobrando vida a un conjunto histórico de la comunidad de Ocumicho Michoacán y brindar un nuevo uso como Centro Artesanal, tomando en cuenta primeramente la restauración que se debe de realizar y los lineamientos, las políticas y estrategias que se requieren para no afectar o alterar el patrimonio histórico de la comunidad. El conjunto histórico funcionó como huatapera u hospital de la comunidad. En donde el Maestro en Arquitectura José Manuel Martínez describe como conjunto de edificios y espacios abiertos que sirvieron para dar abrigo y cuidado a los indios enfermos, para acoger y albergar a los viajeros y gente de paso, conocido también como lugar de reunión para priostes y mayordomos, lugar que servía para evangelizar y difundir la religión católica. Posteriormente algunos elementos de la huatapera funcionaron como dormitorios para las religiosas Hermanas de los Pobres Siervas del Sagrado Corazón. Actualmente solo funciona la mitad del conjunto: la capilla, dos trojes (que sirven de dormitorios para los integrantes de la capilla), el campanario, la cocina y el patio (ekuarho), que hacen posible la organización y función de la capilla. Yurishio significa casa de la Virgen de la Inmaculada Concepción, aunque para la comunidad el término es utilizado para referirse a todo el conjunto histórico.
