Sobre el sentimiento ético en Emmanuel Levinas

Abstract

The goal of this work is to ask if it is possible to talk about the ethical feeling in Emmanuel Levinas in a different way of that of modern reason, this is, the a-priori of the phenomenological consciousness, also different to the ontological conception of being. Therefore, in a first moment, it is contextualized and analyzed the intellectual environment of Levinas, that is, the Husserl’s phenomenological current and Heidegger’s ontological current. Also, it is analyzed, in a general way, the ethical stance of both Husserl and Heidegger. Later, it is analyzed the detachment that Levinas will do concerning the way of approaching the ethical feeling from the phenomenological (consciousness) and ontological (being) views. One of the singularities that characterizes Levinas´ thinking is: the constructive criticism that he makes to the modern philosophical tradition, that is, the way in which sensitivity is discussed, in other words, for the author of Totality and Infinity, the sensitivity in not an objectivity that we have to look for in the a-priori reason or in consciousness, said in other words, do not think sensitivity as a fertile land waiting for the a-priori understanding or human intellect to unveil, through the abstract representation, the factual world of sensitivity. For Levinas, the sensitivity belongs rather to the field of joy and wound: to live the world in the immediacy of sensitivity. This analysis regarding sensitivity will be the main reference to argue about the Levinas’ ethical feeling, and therefore, to hold that his ethical feeling arises in the inspiration of the other in the immediacy of sensitivity, and in this way, to argue that Emmanuel Levinas’ ethical feeling is responsibility for the other as my neighbor.

El objetivo de esta tesis es preguntar si es posible hablar sobre el sentimiento ético en Emmanuel Levinas en un elemento diferente a la razón moderna, esto es, lo a-priori de la conciencia-fenomenológica, asimismo, diferente a la concepción ontológica del ser. Para ello, en un primer momento, se contextualiza y analiza el ambiente intelectual levinasiano, a saber, la corriente fenomenológica en Husserl y la corriente ontológica en Heidegger. Se analiza también, de manera general, la postura ética tanto de Husserl como de Heidegger. Posteriormente, se analiza el desapego que Levinas efectuará referente a la forma de abordar el sentimiento ético desde la óptica fenomenológica (conciencia) y ontológica (ser). Una de las peculiaridades en el pensamiento filosófico de Emmanuel Levinas es: la crítica constructiva que hace a la tradición filosófica occidental-moderna, esto es, referente a la forma de pensar y/o tematizar la sensibilidad, es decir, para el autor de Totalidad e Infinito, la sensibilidad no es una objetividad que se pretende buscar en lo a-priori de la razón y/o de la conciencia, es decir, no pensar la sensibilidad como tierra de cultivo en espera de que el entendimiento a-priori y/o intelecto humano devele, mediante la representación abstracta, el mundo fáctico de la sensibilidad. Para Levinas, la sensibilidad pertenece, más bien, al ámbito del gozo y la herida: vivir mundo en la inmediatez de la sensibilidad pre-original. Este análisis referente a la sensibilidad pre-original serán piedra solida para argumentar referente al sentimiento ético en Emmanuel Levinas; y, por ende, dar cuenta que el sentimiento ético en Levinas emerge en la inspiración (psiquismo) del rostro del otro hombre en la inmediatez de la sensibilidad pre-original, y de esta forma, argumentar que el sentimiento ético en Emmanuel Levinas es responsabilidad frente al otro como mi prójimo.
