Mastitis bovina causada por Streptococcus uberis

Abstract

The present work refers to bovine mastitis caused by Streptococcus uberis, which turns out to be an infectious agent of great importance, isolated very frequently in cattle producing milk and causing great economic losses to producers throughout the world. This compilation was carried out by consulting scientific articles, which were obtained directly from researchers, by different means, books, journals, theses, and dissertations, because there is little scientific information regarding Streptococcus uberis and it is intended to be a means of consultation for those interested in the subject. The document is structured in the following way: first it is approached what is mastitis and its classification. Next, we describe clinical and subclinical mastitis, as well as the causative agents of bovine mastitis, in which contagious and environmental agents are described, as well as the generalities of Streptococci. Its structural characteristics and pathogenic power, isolation and identification. Subsequently, the subject of Streptococcus uberis is discussed, in which its means of transmission are described, as well as the procedures for its identification in the laboratory. Finally reference is made to prevention and control measures, hygiene procedures and milking time. The methodology used consisted in the search, obtaining, detection, consultation, extraction and synthesis of information on the subject of study. The aim of the present work was to review the literature on bovine mastitis caused by Streptococcus uberis, its means of transmission, identification procedure in the laboratory, prevention and control measures.

El presente trabajo hace referencia a la mastitis bovina causada por el Streptococcus uberis el cual resulta ser un agente infeccioso de gran importancia, aislado muy frecuente en el ganado bovino productor de leche y que ocasiona grandes pérdidas económicas a los productores en todo el mundo. Esta recopilación se llevó acabo consultando artículos científicos, los cuales se obtuvieron directamente de los investigadores, por diferentes vías, libros, revistas, tesis, y tesinas, debido a que existe poca información científica respecto al Streptococcus uberis y pretende constituir un medio de consulta para los interesados en el tema. El documento está estructurado de la siguiente manera: primero se aborda lo referente a lo que es la mastitis y su clasificación. Enseguida, se describe la mastitis clínica y subclínica, así como los agentes causantes de la mastitis bovina dentro de las cuales se describen los agentes contagiosos y ambientales, así como las generalidades de los Estreptococos. Sus características estructurales y poder patógeno, aislamiento e identificación. Posteriormente se aborda lo referente al Streptococcus uberis dentro del cual se describen sus medios de transmisión, así como a los procedimientos para su identificación en el laboratorio. Finalmente se hace referencia a las medidas de prevención y control, los procedimientos de higiene y tiempo de ordeña. La metodología utilizada consistió en la búsqueda, obtención, detección, consulta, extracción y síntesis de información sobre el tema de estudio. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue hacer una revisión de literatura sobre la mastitis bovina causada por Streptococcus uberis, sus medios de transmisión, procedimiento de identificación en el laboratorio, medidas de prevención y control.
