Efecto de la edad de la parvada sobre la calidad del cascarón de huevo en gallinas Rhode Island Red

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the age of the flock on the quality of eggshell in chickens Rhode Island Red. For this 80 chicken eggs Rhode Island Red, 40 from hens first cycle were collected and 40 second cycle. Measurements were egg weight, shell weight, shell thickness, egg longitudinal and transverse diameter; the results were: egg weight: 58.5g and 64.1g for first and second cycle respectively; weight of 5.1g and 5.2g shell for first and second cycle respectively; shell thickness: 0.34 mm and 0.32 for first and second cycle respectively; longitudinal diameter: 5.58cm and 6.04 cm for first and second cycle respectively and the transverse diameter: 4.28cm and 4.12cm for first and second cycle respectively. The results indicate that the age of the hen has a negative effect on shell quality as we mention the authors consulted, and that the older the hen produces an egg larger but with the same amount of shell.

El objetivo del presente trabajo consistió́ determinar el efecto de la edad de la parvada sobre la calidad del cascaron de huevo en gallinas Rhode Island Red. Para ello se recolectaron 80 huevos de gallinas Rhode Island Red, 40 procedentes de gallinas de primer ciclo y 40 de segundo ciclo. Las mediciones fueron: peso del huevo, peso del cascaron, espesor del cascaron, diámetro longitudinal y transversal del huevo; los resultados fueron: peso del huevo: 58.5g y 64.1g para los de primer y segundo ciclo respectivamente; peso del cascaron 5.1g y 5.2g para los de primer y segundo ciclo respectivamente; espesor del cascaron: 0.34 mm y 0.32 para los de primer y segundo ciclo respectivamente; diámetro longitudinal: 5.58cm y 6.04 cm para los de primer y segundo ciclo respectivamente y el diámetro transversal: 4.28cm y 4.12cm para los de primer y segundo ciclo respectivamente. Los resultados nos indican que la edad de la gallina tiene un efecto negativo sobre la calidad del cascaron como nos lo mencionan los autores consultados, ya que a mayor edad de la gallina produce un huevo de mayor tamaño pero con la misma cantidad de cascaron.
