Técnicas de inseminación artificial en ovinos

Abstract

The present work makes reference on the techniques of artificial insemination in ovines which are of great importance in the exploitation and reproduction of sheep, for their high percentage of effectiveness as a means of reproduction. Artificial insemination is a method of assisted reproduction in which semen is obtained from the male and then inserted into the reproductive system of the female manually and by means of special instruments. In this system there is no direct contact between the male and the female. In this way, different techniques are included to carry out artificial insemination, which can be the vaginal one that consists of depositing the fresh or diluted semen thawed in the vagina. Cervical artificial insemination is currently the most used, the deposition of semen is done within the first cervical folds, which are visible with the help of a speculum and light source, this technique becomes transcervical or intrauterine when It completely crosses the body of the cervix and deposits the semen intrauterine, the technique involves the subjection and retraction of the cervix through the vagina to allow the insertion of the insemination instrument into the cervical canal. Intrauterine artificial insemination by exploratory laparotomy is even more invasive since the technique includes a slight sedation of the animal to allow laparotomy which includes exposure of both horns for the deposition of fresh or frozen / thawed semen with a trocar or catheter. The technique of artificial intrauterine insemination by laparoscopy resembles the laparotomy technique, but in this case there is no laparotomy per se.

El presente trabajo hace referencia sobre las técnicas de inseminación artificial en ovinos las cuales son de suma importancia en la explotación y reproducción de ovinos, por su elevado porcentaje de efectividad como un medio de reproducción. La inseminación artificial es un método de reproducción asistida en el que se obtiene el semen del macho para introducirlo posteriormente en el aparato reproductor de la hembra de forma manual y por medio de instrumentos especiales. En este sistema no existe contacto directo entre el macho y la hembra. De tal forma se incluyen diferentes técnicas para llevar a cabo la inseminación artificial, la cual puede ser la vaginal que consiste en depositar el semen fresco o diluido descongelado en la vagina. La inseminación artificial cervical es a la fecha la más utilizada, la deposición del semen se realiza dentro de los primeros pliegues cervicales, los cuales son visibles con la ayuda de un espéculo y fuente de luz, esta técnica se convierte en transcervical ó intrauterina cuando se logra atravesar por completo el cuerpo de la cérvix y depositar el semen intrauterinamente, la técnica implica la sujeción y retracción del cérvix por la vagina para permitir la introducción del instrumento inseminatorio en el canal cervical. La inseminación artificial intrauterina por laparotomía exploratoria es aún más invasiva ya que la técnica incluye una ligera sedación del animal para permitir la laparotomía la cual incluye la exposición de ambos cuernos para la deposición del semen fresco o congelado/descongelado con un trocar o catéter. La técnica de inseminación artificial intrauterina por laparoscopia se asemeja a la técnica por laparotomía, pero en este caso no hay laparotomía en sí.
