Abstract

The city is the materialization of a social reality in which not only the needs and forms of organization of society are maintained, but also expresses technical progress, knowledge, tastes, values ​​and ideologies of social groups. who build and inhabit it. Hence, a city can be studied from different approaches: the economy, society, institutions and relationships that arise within it and also through its architecture that gives us a broader image of the city. As Catherine Ettinger points out: "Architecture has an intrinsic relationship with cultural processes at various levels, from the simplest house to the representative monument of the elite of a society, the study of spatial distribution gives us knowledge of the values ​​and hierarchies present In society, in the same way, the careful revision of the materials and construction systems can point us to permanences that at the same time allow us to understand the social organization and the hierarchies present in the construction group”, architecture shows us the intangible and what goes beyond mere architectural designs; architecture and space are product and social container, of great value for the historian. Architecture shows us in a certain way the interaction of a social relationship that in its formation or creation carry ideological, symbolic and figurative attributes, understanding the social relationship as something that implies a plural behavior and that determines a certain action in architecture; These social relationships are reflected in the construction of spaces, whether public or private, and in the use that society makes of them.

La ciudad es la materialización de una realidad social en la que se mantienen no solo las necesidades y las formas de organización de la sociedad, sino que también expresa los progresos técnicos, el conocimiento, los gustos, los valores y las ideologías de los grupos sociales que la construyen y la habitan. De ahí que una ciudad puede estudiarse desde distintos enfoques: la economía, la sociedad, las instituciones y las relaciones que surgen al interior de la misma y también a través de su arquitectura que nos viene a dar una imagen más amplia de la ciudad.
