El museo michoacano. Resguardo del Patrimonio Cultural (1886-1943)

Abstract

The present investigation is a study on the Michoacán Museum whose purpose is to reconstruct the history of the institution from 1886 to 1943. From its beginnings, the museum was considered as a meeting space where curiosity and idle work of gathering objects was satisfied. , from the most absurd to the most valuable due to its cultural and material composition. In the first civilizations, the curiosity was had to gather objects of nature, such as; minerals, plants, animals. In this way, the rooms where the objects were gathered offered a panorama of the thought of the time and its vision. As time progressed, the meaning and purpose changed. Little by little, these would be the guardians of the heritage, as well as the memory and the identity of the culture. It then began to carry out scientific studies, as well as to satisfy and support education. At the end of the 18th century in our country, with the arrival of the Enlightenment current, research began in the area of ​​natural sciences, with this, it was necessary to accumulate specimens for their study, thus creating the first natural museums. . On the other hand, the discoveries of Piedra del Sol and Cuatlicue in Mexico City marked the beginning of archaeological and ethnographic collecting in our country. In this way, the Museums began to be the sanctuaries where cultural and natural objects were exhibited. The political and social changes that occurred at the beginning of the 19th century imposed a scientific, cultural and didactic orientation on these institutions, arising from the triumphant nationalist sentiment of the time. In Michoacán, throughout the 19th century, personalities such as José Trinidad Salgado, Melchor Ocampo, Jacobo Ramírez, among others, promoted the first projects to create a Museum in the state.

La presente investigación, es un estudio sobre el Museo Michoacano que tiene como propósito reconstruir la historia de la institución de 1886 a 1943. Desde sus inicios, el museo fue considerado como un espacio de reunión donde se satisfacía la curiosidad y ociosa labor de reunir objetos, desde los más absurdos hasta los más valiosos por su composición cultural y material. En las primeras civilizaciones, se tuvo la curiosidad de reunir objetos de la naturaleza, tales como; minerales, plantas, animales. De esa manera, las estancias donde se reunían los objetos, ofrecían un panorama del pensamiento de la época y su visión. Conforme el tiempo avanzaba, el sentido y el propósito fue cambiando. Poco a poco, estos serían los guardianes del patrimonio, como de la memoria y de la identidad de la cultura. Se comenzó entonces a realizar estudios científicos, así como a satisfacer y apoyar la educación. A finales del siglo XVIII en nuestro país, con la llegada de la corriente de la ilustración, se comenzó a realizar investigaciones en el área de las ciencias naturales, con ello, fue necesario acumular especimenes para su estudio, creándose así, los primeros museos naturales. Por otra parte, los descubrimientos de la Piedra del Sol y la Cuatlicue en la ciudad de México, marcaron el inicio del coleccionismo arqueológico y etnográfico en nuestro país. De esa manera, los Museos comenzaron a ser los santuarios donde se exhibían objetos culturale s y naturales. Los cambios políticos y sociales ocurridos a principios del siglo XIX, impusieron a estas instituciones, una orientación científica, cultural y didáctica, surgido del triunfante sentimiento nacionalista de la época. En Michoacán, a lo largo del siglo XIX personalidades como José Trinidad Salgado, Melchor Ocampo, Jacobo Ramírez, entre otros, impulsaron los primeros proyectos para crear un Museo en el estado.
