Inicio del proceso de evangelización en Zacapu Michoacán. 1548-1600

Abstract

From the port of Palos, Christopher Columbus set out with his three caravels, in search of something new, new routes that had never been explored. On October 12, 1492, Columbus and his companions arrived in an unknown land and did not even suspect that they had discovered a new continent for European civilization, Columbus had left Spain looking for a shorter way to reach India, however he arrived at the Caribbean islands. When Columbus returned to Spain, the Catholic kings, Ferdinand and Isabella, informed the new Pope Alexander VI of the discovery. "Go all over the world to preach the Gospel," he replied to Fernando and Isabel: "We command you, by virtue of holy obedience, that just as you promise, and we do not doubt you will comply, you destine to the aforementioned lands and islands, honest men and fearful of God, learned, instructed and experienced, to indoctrinate the said indigenous and residents in the Catholic faith and impose on them good customs, putting all the diligence of life in those you have to send" (Bull Inter Caetera, May 6, 1493 ).

Del puerto de Palos, partía Cristóbal Colón con sus tres carabelas, en busca de algo nuevo, nuevas rutas que nunca se habían explorado. El 12 de Octubre de 1492, Colón y sus compañeros llegaron a tierra desconocida y no sospecharon siquiera que habían descubierto para la civilización europea un nuevo continente, Colón había salido de España buscando un camino más corto para llegar a la India, sin embargo llegó a las islas del Caribe. Vuelto Colón a España, los reyes Católicos, Fernando e Isabel, informaron del descubrimiento al nuevo papa Alejandro VI. "Vayan por todo el mundo a predicar el Evangelio", contestó a Fernando e Isabel: "Os mandamos, en virtud de santa obediencia que así como prometéis, y no dudamos cumpliréis, destinéis a las tierras e islas susodichas, varones probos y temerosos de Dios, doctos, instruidos y experimentados, para doctrinar a los dichos indígenas y moradores en la fe católica e imponerles en las buenas costumbres, poniendo toda la diligencia de vida en los que hayáis de enviar" (Bula Inter Caetera, 6 de Mayo de 1493).
