Abstract

A large part of the historical facts that we consider important in the future of our society have been printed in documents, through which we can verify their existence, verify their data, analyze their importance, their causes and consequences, that is why the archives that they contain are of vital importance for historical research; and in our case, as it is legal information, it is just as relevant for researchers specializing in law, anthropology, sociology, among other disciplines; since it gives them a very broad perspective on the application of laws in the 19th century, also on the behavior of people and their way of functioning as a society at that time, to also appreciate the differences with today. For these reasons, it is necessary to preserve the documents in the best possible conditions. To this end, a large number of people are working in the archives and not only for the purpose of preserving them; but also to organize them and create instruments that facilitate access to the information contained in the documentation. However, there is still much to be done since there is still a large number of files that need to be rescued from abandonment in order to later organize them and thus facilitate their consultation and achieve their dissemination. It can be said that the primary purpose of the archive is to be adapted to be useful for research, for which the participation of archivists is essential, who are the ones who are trained to condition these spaces in the correct way so that researchers can go to investigate. in them and be able to build historical processes.

Gran parte de los hechos históricos que consideramos importantes en el devenir de nuestra sociedad han quedado impresos en documentos, a través de ellos podemos constatar su existencia, verificar sus datos, analizar su importancia, sus causas y consecuencias, es por eso que los archivos que los contienen son de vital importancia para la investigación histórica; y en nuestro caso al tratarse de información jurídica es igual de relevante para los investigadores especialistas en derecho, antropología, sociología entre otras disciplinas; ya que les da una perspectiva muy amplia sobre la aplicación de leyes en el siglo XIX, también del comportamiento de las personas y su forma de desenvolverse como sociedad en ese momento, para asimismo apreciar las diferencias con la actualidad. Por estas razones es necesario conservar los documentos en las mejores condiciones posibles, con este fin están trabajando una gran cantidad de personas en los archivos y no sólo con el propósito de conservarlos; sino también de organizarlos y de crear instrumentos que faciliten el acceso a la información que contiene la documentación. Sin embargo aún resta mucho por hacer puesto que todavía queda una gran cantidad de archivos que necesitan ser rescatados del abandono para después organizarlos y así facilitar su consulta y lograr su difusión. Se puede decir que el propósito primordial del archivo es adecuarse para poder ser útil a la investigación, para lo cual es imprescindible la participación de los archivistas que son quienes están capacitados para acondicionar estos espacios de la manera correcta y así puedan los investigadores ir a indagar en ellos y poder construir procesos históricos.
