Cambios y continuidades en la festividad del Corpus Christi en Tarecuato

Abstract

The festival of Corpus Christi (Body of Christ), also called the day of the mules, is celebrated year after year in the community of Tarecuato Michoacán, historically it has had an important impact on the population of the municipality of Tangamandapio, but also on the communities and nearby towns. This notable cultural and religious influence that the Tarecuato festival emits in the region has had multiple aspects over time and has been directly associated with the participation of key figures, such as parish priests and members of the community who have held organizational positions. of said party. The period of study of this research is very broad, since it covers from the colonial period until around 1950, in order to be able to identify the changes and continuities that have been recorded in the history of the festival and thus, establish a comparative analysis. of the most relevant moments in the history of the community and its cultural transformations. Given this, the importance of the research lies in the analysis of the festivity and faith of the indigenous peoples and more specifically, the indigenous community of Tarecuato, where there is currently a complex and interesting system of religious offices. Also, the activities carried out by traditional authorities, their duties and obligations with the community were analyzed. Likewise, the particularities of Corpus Christi in the locality were examined, since although it is celebrated in several regions of Mexico and in other places in Michoacán, each of the representations presents differences in preparation, eve and development, etc.

La fiesta del Corpus Christi (Cuerpo de Cristo), también llamado el día de las mulas, se celebra año con año en la comunidad de Tarecuato Michoacán, históricamente ha tenido un impacto importante en la población del municipio de Tangamandapio, pero también en las comunidades y pueblos próximos. Este notable influjo cultural y religioso que emite la festividad de Tarecuato en la región, ha tenido múltiples aristas a lo largo del tiempo y ha estado directamente asociado a la participación de personajes clave, como párrocos y miembros de la comunidad que han ocupado los cargos organizacionales de dicha fiesta. El periodo de estudio de esta investigación es muy amplio, ya que abarca desde el periodo colonial, hasta alrededor de 1950, con el fin de poder identificar los cambiosy continuidades que se han registrado en la historia de la festividad y así, establecer un análisis comparativo de los momentos más relevantes de la historia de la comunidad y de sus transformaciones culturales. Ante ello, la importancia de la investigación estriba en que se logró el análisis de la festividad y la fe de los pueblos indígenas y más concretamente, la comunidad indígena de Tarecuato, donde actualmente se cuenta con un sistema de cargos religiosos complejo e interesante. También, se analizaron las actividades que realizan las autoridades tradicionales, sus deberes y obligaciones con la comunidad. De igual forma se examinaron las particularidades del Corpus Christi en la localidad, ya que aunque se celebra en varias regiones de México y en otros lugares de Michoacán, cada una de las representaciones presenta diferencias ya sea en la preparación, víspera y desarrollo, etc.
