El templo de San Francisco de Morelia, sociedad y arte

Abstract

The thesis presents three chapters in which develops the history and architecture of the Temple of San Francisco of Morelia. The first chapter deals with the history and ideology of the Franciscan religious order, since its foundation in Europe until his transfer to the new Spain, as well as your arrival to the lands of Michoacán to introducing religion in the area. The second chapter focuses on the area of the Valley of Guayangareo, now Morelia, and speaks of the first inhabitants of the same, the foundation and development of the city of Guayangareo-Valladolid and makes a general analysis of the Valladolid society in the second half of the 16th century and first half of 17th century. Finally the third chapter falls squarely to the history of the construction of the Temple of San Francisco in Morelia, it makes an analysis of the architectural elements of the same, and finally makes an iconographical and iconological study of symbolic religious elements of the Franciscan church.

La tesis presenta tres capítulos en los que se desarrolla la historia y arquitectura del templo de San Francisco de Morelia. El primer capítulo aborda la historia e ideología de la orden religiosa franciscana, desde su fundación en Europa hasta su traslado a la Nueva España, así como su arribo a las tierras michoacanas introduciendo la religión en la zona. El segundo capítulo se centra en la zona del valle de Guayangareo, ahora Morelia, y habla de los primeros habitantes del mismo, la fundación y desarrollo de la ciudad de Guayangareo-Valladolid y hace un análisis general de la sociedad vallisoletana de la segunda mitad del siglo XVI y primera del siglo XVII. Finalmente el tercer capítulo entra de lleno a la historia de la construcción del templo de San Francisco en Morelia, hace un análisis de los elementos arquitectónicos del mismo, y finalmente hace un estudio iconográfico e iconológico de los elementos religiosos simbólicos del templo franciscano.
