Para chiles los de Queréndaro: resistencia, comida y una feria del chile para el rescate de su tradición

Abstract

The Chili tradition of Queréndaro Michoacán has been followed for almost a century, the seed that is planted is the Creole variety and it is the one that gives to town the prestige of its gastronomy. For various reasons, cultivation has been sporadically abandoned. To avoid the total loss of it, different alternatives have been sought for the rescue of the seed. The chili fair it has a maximum rescue project, but as the time have passaged, it has lost its main objective, leaving the production as it was at the beginning. The generations that still plant the crop are very few, thus there is very little time left to work for their salvation. These resistance people is in favor of the production that has been inherited by their families, cause farming gives them economic support, but also marks the identity of the town, its gastronomic heritage and its tradition. With each seed planted, they are rescuing their history.

La tradición chilera de Queréndaro Michoacán, se ha seguido por casi un siglo, la semilla que se planta es de variedad criolla y es la que le da al pueblo el prestigio de su gastronomía chilera. Por distintas razones, el cultivo se ha ido abandonando esporádicamente. Para evitar la pérdida total del mismo, se han buscado distintas alternativas para el rescate de la semilla. La feria del chile es su máximo proyecto de rescate, pero, esta con el paso del tiempo ha perdido su principal objetivo, dejando la producción tal como al principio. Las generaciones que aún plantan el cultivo son muy pocas, queda muy poco tiempo para trabajar por su salvación. La resistencia de los chileros es en pro de la producción que les ha sido heredada por sus familias, ya que no sólo les da sustento económico, sino la identidad del pueblo, su patrimonio gastronómico y su tradición. Con cada semilla plantada, están rescatando su historia.
