La villa de Maravatío, Michoacán, durante el Porfiriato: su entorno rural y dinámica urbana, 1876-1911

Abstract

The purpose of this text is to analyze the economic and social development of an urban center in the state of Michoacán during the Porfirian period, immersed in a highly profitable agricultural region and linked to the mining centers of Tlalpujahua-El Oro and Angangueo. The explanatory discourse aims to demonstrate how the dynamics of the evolution of the agrarian landscape had an impact on the configuration of the economic, social, political and cultural manifestations of the town of Maravatío. The members of the local elite, who were characterized by a broad and refined cultural formation, which was reflected in the realization of projects such as the "Morelos" theater, to cite one case, are identified as the main animating instance of this process.

El texto tiene como propósito analizar el desarrollo económico y social de un centro urbano del estado de Michoacán durante el periodo porfirista, inmerso en una comarca agrícola de alta rentabilidad y vinculada a los centros mineros de Tlalpujahua-El Oro y Angangueo. Con el discurso explicativo se pretende demostrar cómo la dinámica de la evolución del paisaje agrario repercutió en la configuración de las manifestaciones económicas, sociales políticas y culturales de la villa de Maravatío.
