Apariencia estamental en las formas de vestir en Valladolid de Michoacán durante el siglo XVIII

Abstract

Appearance was essential in a society prone to judgment and social approval, therefore, the clothes helped to fit in; the fashions of those days were adaptations of Europe and America with some materials from Asia, fabrics and other supplies, as well as shoes and jewels that contributed through their luxury meaning to achieve the purpose and nurture the necessary sense of belonging.

La apariencia era fundamental en una sociedad propensa al juicio y la aprobación social, para ello la ropa ayudaba a encajar socialmente; las modas de entonces eran adaptaciones de Europa y América con algunos materiales de Asia, las telas y otros insumos así como los zapatos y las joyas coadyuvaban por medio de su lujoso significado a lograr el cometido y alimentar el necesario sentido de pertenencia.
