Catálogo documental de bautismos del Archivo Histórico Parroquial del Sagrario Metropolitano de Morelia, 1642-1652.

Abstract

This documentary catalog was made in the Parish Historical Archive of the Metropolitan Shrine of Morelia (known as Capuchinas) from book 2 (from page 57, in the year 1642, until the end of the book) of box 1 of the sacramental section of the baptisms series, it is a part of the book because another person already worked on the previous pages, in this file one can make a part of a book due to the large amount of information there is and leave the part that follows of this to others. The part that touched me presents three visitation documents, which allow us to see the changes in the administration of baptism, as well as a division by race: Spaniards, Indians, black and caste, and other aspects. The first baptism book dates back to 1594. There is a lot of valuable information about relevant historical figures, such as the insurgent José María Morelos. The part of the cataloged book, causes the information to be preserved avoiding mistreating the book, contains the baptisms of the society of Valladolid, which can serve future researchers as a source for their work of a social, cultural, statistical nature, among others.

El presente catálogo documental se realizó en el Archivo Histórico Parroquial del Sagrario Metropolitano de Morelia (conocido como Capuchinas) del libro 2 (a partir de la foja 57, en el año de 1642, hasta el final del libro) de la caja 1 de la sección sacramental de la serie bautismos, es una parte del libro porque ya otra persona trabajó las fojas anteriores, en este archivo uno puede hacer una parte de un libro por la gran cantidad de información que hay y dejarle a otros la parte que sigue de este. La parte que me tocó presenta tres autos de visita, que nos dejan ver los cambios en la administración del bautismo, además de una división por razas: españoles, indios, negros y castas, y otros aspectos. El primer libro de bautismo data de 1594. Hay mucha información valiosa, de personajes históricos relevantes, como, por ejemplo, el insurgente José María Morelos. La parte del libro catalogado, provoca que la información se conserve evitando maltratar el libro, contiene los bautizos de la sociedad de Valladolid, que puede servir a futuros investigadores como fuente para sus trabajos de índole social, cultural, estadístico, entre otras.
