El discurso simbólico en el libro-albúm narrativo: un estudio de caso en Los Especiales de a La Orilla del Viento

Abstract

The present research looks at the narrative book-album, as a multimodal discourse of children's and juvenile literature, where the illustration takes a central place in the task of narrating, overlapping with brief and concise texts. In addition, it approaches the album as an artistic discourse (literary and visual) open to the symbolic plane of language, and therefore, as a vehicle of aesthetic experiences of reception. Therefore, it represents a perspective of multidisciplinary analysis between the human sciences and art. As a case study, he resorts to the book-album collection: Los Especiales de A la Orilla del Viento, from the Fondo de Cultura Económica, as it brings together a great diversity of aesthetic proposals of considerable graphic and literary value. After the stylistic classification of this collection, a corpus of three books appears that constitute the object of central analysis of the thesis. Within chapter I, the object of study is delimited as a multimodal language, exploring the historical and ideological aspects that gave rise to the book-album, as well as its stylistic reconfiguration in the contemporary album. The relationship between the object of study and related traditions is also commented: the popular graphic, the comic and the author's book, pointing out their similarities and differences with respect to the album. On the other hand, the criteria for the stylistic classification of the collection and the selection of the books to be analyzed are based and elaborated. All this through a study of the different text-image relations present in the books of the collection, which reflects a reflection on the synergistic relationship between text and image within the narrative album, and its delimitation as a category of central analysis. Finally, the general characteristics of the collection are described, and its stylistic classification is exemplified.

La presente investigación observa al libro-álbum narrativo, como discurso multimodal de la literatura infantil y juvenil (LIJ), donde la ilustración toma un lugar central en la tarea de narrar, al imbricarse con textos breves y concisos. Además, aborda al álbum como discurso artístico (literario y visual) abierto al plano simbólico del lenguaje, y por lo tanto, como vehículo de experiencias estéticas de recepción. Por ello, representa una perspectiva de análisis multidisciplinar entre las ciencias humanas y el arte. Como estudio de caso, recurre a la colección de libro-álbum: Los Especiales de A la Orilla del Viento, del Fondo de Cultura Económica, en tanto reúne gran diversidad de propuestas estéticas de considerable valor gráfico y literario. Tras la clasificación estilística de dicha colección, se desprende un corpus de tres libros que constituyen el objeto de análisis central de la tesis. Dentro del capítulo I, se delimita al objeto de estudio en su calidad de lenguaje multimodal, y se exploran los aspectos históricos e ideológicos que dieron origen al libro-álbum, así como su reconfiguración estilística en el álbum contemporáneo. Se comenta también la relación que guarda el objeto de estudio con tradiciones afines: la gráfica popular, el cómic y el libro de autor, apuntando sus semejanzas y diferencias respecto al álbum. Por otra parte, se fundamentan y elaboran los criterios para la clasificación estilística de la colección y la selección de los libros a analizar. Todo ello mediante un estudio de las distintas relaciones texto-imagen presentes en los libros de la colección, del que se desprende una reflexión sobre la relación sinérgica entre texto e imagen dentro del álbum narrativo, y su delimitación como categoría de análisis central. Finalmente, se describen las características generales de la colección, y se ejemplifica su clasificación estilística.
