Abstract: This project presents the chemical synthesis of metal oxides (MO) particles by sol-gel and oxidation-reduction techniques. The systems obtained were: hematite-alumina (Fe2O3-Al2O3), titania-alumina (TiO2-Al2O3) and nickel aluminate (NiAl2O4). Three different atmospheres were performed: atmospheric conditions, with a vacuum of 300 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) and with an injection of 1.39 g of inert gas Helium (He). The particles obtained were analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry techniques and thermogravimetric analysis (DSC/TGA) to establish the mass relationships with temperature and time. Later they were characterized structurally by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and their magnetic properties were evaluated with a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The composite material was formed by dispersion in solution with 1.5% by weight of the nanoparticles embedded in two polymer matrices: polycaprolactone (PCL) and crystal polystyrene (GPPS). The obtained composite materials were used as a coating on 316 austenitic stainless steel sheets by the dip coating technique to obtain thin films about 1.43 μm thick on the substrate; the corrosive behavior of the deposited film was evaluated by three electrochemical techniques: potentiodynamic evaluation of -500 to 1500 mV with a corrosion potential (OCP) of 1 mV / s; linear polarization resistance (LPR) in a range of ± 15 mV with OCP of 1 mV / s every 15 minutes for 48 hours and impedance spectroscopy (EIS) at a frequency of 30 kHz to 0.01 Hz with a voltaic amplitude of 30 mV. Hank's saline solution at 37 °C was used as the electrolyte. In order to observe the degradation, they were taken to scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
