Abstract: The fact investigate Catholic churches, implies, identify that these are the place where the various rites of the liturgy is car-ried out. Thus, the specific study of the temples of the twentieth century, involves recognizing that the liturgical reform undertaken by the Second Vatican Council also meant changes to the temples; in the specified, is intended the temple as a whole and its parts, have the ability to promote full, active and conscious participation of the faithful. Based on the above, it could perhaps be expected that architectural solutions the Catholic temples were similar in the same geographical context. However, this research aims to identify these, even with the liturgical reform generated by the Vati-can and the various documents resulting from it are very different from each other. Then no hopes to identify identical Catholic churches, but with similarities that can locate in the first instance to a particular geographical, temporal and social context of course. Thus, even when this investigation did not focus on a semiotic level is it considered necessary to show some aspects that specify the importance of architecture, in our case Catholic churches, as a system of signs from a cultur-al specificity, in the specific case of architecture the relevance of handling religious signs and symbols of worship is estab-lished from an ancestral tradition.
