Diarrea aguda causada por Salmonella y Shigella en el Hospital Infantil de Morelia, experiencia de 12 años, 1996-2008

Abstract

Shigellosis or bacillary dysentery is defined as a severe gastrointestinal infection, with fever, tenesmus, abdominal spasms and, in particular, frequent small-volume stools, generally accompanied by mucus, blood and leukocytes. They are caused by bacteria of the genus Shigella (Shiga 1898), together with Escherichia, it belongs to the tribe Escherichiae and the family Enterobacteriaceae. This bacteria was discovered by Chantemese and Widal in 1888 in the feces of soldiers with dysentery.

La shigelosis o disentería bacilar se define como una infección gastrointestinal severa, con fiebre, tenesmo, espasmos abdominales y en particular, deposiciones frecuentes de poco volumen, generalmente acompañadas de moco, sangre y leucocitos. Son causada por bacterias del género Shigella (Shiga 1898), junto con Escherichia, pertenece a la tribu Escherichiae y a la familia Enterobacteriaceae. Esta bacteria fue descubierta por Chantemese y Widal en 1888 en heces de soldados con disentería.
