Zusammenfassung: Tropical rain forest are the most important, ancient, complex and diverse ecosystems in the world. Many of the species in the rain forest have commercial interest and their indiscriminate use has been motive to place many species under a certain level of protection. The loss of these forest has caused alterations in the ecosystems and variation of the atmospheric CO2 levels, effecting weather climates and contributing to global warming (Dick and Wright 2005, Wright 2010). Due to the concern of climate change, investigators have created models that predict what could happen in the ecosystems within the upcoming decades, creating different scenarios with different CO2 emissions (IPCC 2007). Scenario A (catastrophic) are designed based on the excessive consumption of fossil fuels, scenario B (moderate) are designed based a rational consumption of fuel and gradual generation of clean and environmentally friendly technologies (IPCC2001). Recently, methodologies have been developed that can estimate the potential distribution of species based on the ecologic niche theory. These methodologies only require presence of data, variable environments and an algorithm that relates both variables. The result is a map which shows the area of niche that is fundamentally suitable for the species to survive, excluding the biotic factors (Soberon and Peterson 2005, Franklin 2013). This work consist of two investigations for which the first chapter intents to observe if the species Cedrela dugesii and C. odotora distribute in an unequal manner in the Mexican territory, indicating that they have different climatic niches being that they are two different species. The second chapter talks about understanding the distribution of the C. dugesii, Albizia plurijuga and Ceiba aesculifolia and observe their different ecological requirements within the Basin of Cuitzeo.
