Zusammenfassung: The Cactaceae is endemic to America, has about 100 genera and 1500-1800 species (Solomon, 2001). In Mexico its range is very wide, from Baja California to the Yucatan. It has 68% of the species described worldwide. Inside Biosphere Tehuacán- Cuicatlán species is Mammillaria pectinifera FCA Weber, is endemic to the book, listed as threatened under NOM -059- ECOL -2001 and included in Appendix I of CITES (SEMARNAT 2002, IUCN 2007, CITES 2008) in the category of critically endangered. Populations have declined sharply mainly by anthropogenic activities, is vital to analyze their distribution, population size, floral biology reproductive system may be caused effects on genetic diversity and structure. The objectives of this study were to determine the mating system and genetic structure of M. pectinifera. The results infer that the species has a system and outcrossing mating system xenogamo. Genetic parameters obtained with six pairs of microsatellites, show a high level of heterozygosity He = 0.739 ± 0.009, an excess of heterozygous F = -0.169 and the results of MANOVA indicate that there is a higher percentage of genetic differentiation within populations (95.33%) between populations (4.67%).
