Abstract: The Chromium (Cr) is found in nature form in low concentrations, but its use in industry has determined that in some areas it has become a serious contaminant. The hexavalent form or Cr (VI) is very mobile in ecosystems, for it is considered high risk. The toxic effects of Cr on the growth and plant development include alterations in the germination process, and the growth of roots stems and leaves, which can affect total dry matter production and yield. Furthermore, it also causes harmful effects on physiological processes of the plant, such as photosynthesis, water relations and mineral nutrition. In this work, it was determined the effect of Cr(VI) in different transgenic lines and mutants of Arabidopsis thaliana related mainly with auxin and abscisic acid. Plants were germinated and grown on solidified media with agar in Petri boxes, under controlled conditions of light and temperature at different times. It was analyzed the growth of the root system and the expression of the uidA and GFP reporter genes by staining and fluorescence, respectively.
