Soledad en adultos mayores, revisión sistemática

Abstract

The feeling of loneliness is negative in the daily life of the elderly since several components are affected, both families, social, personal, among others. Loneliness in older adults is represented in a way in which they show subjective feelings of having less affection, social isolation, sadness and longing. Objective. To determine the best available scientific evidence on the level of loneliness in older adults by reviewing the literature. Material and methods. The research was retrospective and cross-sectional. The design was the systematic review with five phases: I Formulation of the question. II Search and location of the studies considering the inclusion criteria for adults over the age of 65 to 80 years, with a perception of loneliness, with studies in the time interval from 2010 to 2020, in Spanish; Search terms Descriptors in Health Sciences (DeCS) (loneliness), (elderly), (health) were determined, using the Boolean operators And and OR in the Virtual Health Library databases, CUIDEN, Dialnet, Redalyc, Conricyt and Scielo in addition to the Academic Google search engine. III Review and selection of studies with the methodology of Arksey and O'Malley and PRISMA-P 2015. 16 articles were included. IV. Extraction and assessment of methodological quality. V. Analysis of the results. Results. It is shown that emotional loneliness refers to feelings, abandonment, lack of affection, depressive symptoms, stress, pessimism, anxiety and low self-esteem. Lack of social belonging, of commitments with other people, decrease in their contacts with social groups and deficient and unsatisfactory established relationships.

El sentimiento de soledad es negativo en la vida diaria de las personas mayores ya que por ello se ven afectados varios componentes tanto familiares, sociales, personales, entre otros. La soledad en el adulto mayor se representa de manera en que muestran sensaciones subjetivas de tener menor afecto, aislamiento social, tristeza y nostalgia. Objetivo. Determinar la mejor evidencia científica disponible del nivel de soledad en adultos mayores mediante revisión de la literatura. Material y métodos. La investigación fue de tipo retrospectivo y transversal. El diseño fue la revisión sistemática con cinco fases: I Formulación de la pregunta. II Búsqueda y localización de los estudios considerando los criterios de inclusión adultos mayores de edad de 65 a 80 años, con percepción de soledad, con estudios en intervalo de tiempo de 2010 a 2020, en idioma español; se determinaron términos de búsqueda Descriptores en Ciencias de la Salud (DeCS) (soledad), (adulto mayor), (salud), utilizando los operadores boleanos And y OR en las bases de datos Biblioteca Virtual de Salud, CUIDEN, Dialnet, Redalyc, Conricyt y Scielo además del buscador Google Académico. III Revisión y selección de estudios con la metodología de Arksey y O’Malley y PRISMA-P 2015. Se incluyeron 16 artículos. IV. Extracción y valoración de la calidad metodológica. V. Análisis de los resultados. Resultados. Se demuestra que la soledad de tipo emocional se refiere a los sentimientos, el abandono, falta de afecto, sintomatología depresiva, estrés, pesimismo, ansiedad y baja autoestima. Carencia de pertenencia social, de compromisos con otras personas, disminución en sus contactos con grupos sociales y las relaciones establecidas deficientes e insatisfactorias.
