Hermenéutica estructural estética aplicada al Cur Deus Homo de San Anselmo: Intelección al origen ontológico de la Encarnación

Abstract

Saint Anselm of Canterbury wrote between the years 1095-1098 a book entitled Cur Deus Homo. The central argument of this anselmian text consists of answering the question of why God became man. This philosophical-theological concern characteristic of medieval thought will be answered dialogically between two antagonistic figures, that is, between the christian and the pagan. From a series of meditations referring to vital questions of the christian creed, the quaestio will appear about the ontological necessity of the Incarnation of the Word with the person of Christ. In this way, this research will methodologically use a hermeneutic capable of segmenting the entire anselmian book with diachronic sections in its various chapters that compose it. To achieve this task, first, chapter I of this research will recover specific doctrinal references from the first fathers of the church, given that with their teachings it may be more evident what Anselm answered in the Cur Deus Homo, but that, however, did not explain with sufficient ease according to the present interpretation. Although Anselm masterfully answered this question about the body of Christ by explaining the ontological necessity of the Incarnation in human history, this hermeneutic will favor a rational progress to this divine Mystery, since from the beginning of the interpretative act all the categories will be read from an investigation into the origin of this Incarnation. In addition to this method, we will internally use what was said by the first fathers of the church the dialectic formulated by Anselm: fides quaerens intellectum. This book of the Cur Deus Homo was divided into two volumes, and therefore, chapter II and chapter III of this work will be dedicated to its interpretation.

San Anselmo de Canterbury redactó entre los años 1095-1098 un libro que lleva por título Cur Deus Homo. La argumentación central de este texto anselmiano consiste en responder a la pregunta del por qué Dios se hizo hombre. Esta inquietud filosóficoteológica característica del pensamiento medieval será respondida dialógicamente entre dos figuras antagónicas, id est, entre el cristiano y el pagano. A partir de una serie de meditaciones referidas a cuestiones vitales del credo cristiano aparecerá la quaestio acerca de la necesidad ontológica de la Encarnación del Verbo con la persona de Cristo. De esta manera, la presente investigación empleará metodológicamente hablando una hermenéutica capaz de segmentar todo el libro anselmiano con cortes diacrónicos en sus diversos capítulos que lo componen. Para lograr dicha tarea, primeramente, el capítulo I de esta investigación recuperará específicas referencias doctrinales de los primeros padres de la iglesia, dado que con sus enseñanzas podrá ser más evidente lo que Anselmo respondió en el Cur Deus Homo, pero que, sin embargo, no explicó con suficiente soltura según la presente interpretación. Si bien, Anselmo responde magistralmente a esta pregunta sobre el cuerpo de Cristo explicando su necesidad ontológica dentro de la historia humana, esta hermenéutica favorecerá un progreso racional a este Misterio divino, pues desde el inicio del acto interpretativo todas las categorías serán leídas a partir de una indagación acerca del origen de esta Encarnación. Aunado a este método, utilizaremos internamente a las filosofías citadas por los primeros padres de la iglesia la dialéctica formulada por el mismo Anselmo, la llamada fides quaerens intellectum. Este libro del Cur Deus Homo quedó divido en dos tomos, y por ello, el capítulo II y capítulo III de este trabajo serán dedicados a su lectura.
