El paisaje cultural del Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California, durante el siglo XX

Abstract

The present research focuses on the study of the cultural landscape of the Guadalupe Valley, located in the state of Baja California in northern Mexico, as heritage belonging to the society that inhabits it. This work presents a descriptive historical analysis of the site during the twentieth century, based on the following hypothesis: the existence of a cultural landscape in the Guadalupe Valley, which emerges from understanding agriculture as a central axis that connects, over time, the different cultures that have inhabited the valley. This relationship can be observed in the events that took place during the first half of the twentieth century. The methodological process implemented was based on the collection of information from primary sources, such as interviews, archival documents, photographs, and cartographic materials, complemented by a series of secondary sources from previous studies. All the collected material was analyzed and documented, making it possible to identify the traces and key moments that have shaped the cultural landscape of the valley.

La investigación aquí presente se enfoca en el estudio del paisaje cultural del valle de Guadalupe en el estado de Baja California al norte de México como patrimonio de la sociedad que ahí habita. Este trabajo realiza un análisis histórico descriptivo sobre el sitio en durante el siglo XX, bajo la hipótesis: La existencia de un paisaje cultural en el valle de Guadalupe, el cual surge entendiendo que la agricultura es un eje que conecta a lo largo del tiempo a las diferentes culturas que han habitado el valle de Guadalupe, y esto puede observarse en los acontecimientos de la primera mitad del siglo XX. El proceso metodológico que se implementó se basó en la recolección de información de fuentes primarias, como entrevistas, documentos de archivo, fotografías y cartografías, sin dejar de lado una serie de fuentes secundarias de estudios previos; todo ello fue analizado y documentado, logrando poder identificar las huellas y momentos clave que han arrojado el paisaje cultural del valle.
