Abstract: This research explored the potential of solid bioinoculants containing plant growthpromoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) to optimize the development of both landrace and hybrid maize under reduced chemical fertilization. The study compared liquid and solid formulations across different vegetative stages, from laboratory to actual field conditions, with the aim of identifying sustainable alternatives for agriculture and their favorable integration into current farming systems. The bacteria used were isolated from rhizospheric soils in Michoacán and selected for their ability to fix nitrogen and solubilize phosphates and calcium. After preparing liquid and solid formulations, key parameters were evaluated: germination (VE stage), growth at vegetative stage 3 (V3) and vegetative stage 6 (V6) (root length, shoot biomass, and dry weight), and finally, field yield. The experimental plots received only 50% of the conventional chemical fertilization, contrasting with controls of full fertilization (100%) and reduced fertilization without inoculation. The results revealed that the solid formulations consistently outperformed the liquid ones. The solid treatment with Azotobacter sp. BKY (BKY) was particularly notable, increasing dry weight by 28.79% and root length by 21.8% compared to the fully fertilized control. In the field, the solid bioinoculant with Azotobacter sp. BKY achieved a yield of 12.20 ton/ha, surpassing the regional control (9.25 ton/ha) by 33% while using only half the amount of chemical fertilizers. Soil microbiota analysis showed that solid formulations better preserved microbial diversity, although strains like BKY exhibited greater dominance. The inoculated microorganisms persisted in the rhizosphere until harvest, with populations between 1.0×10⁵ and 7.8×10⁷ CFU/mL, confirming their stability and adaptation.
