El Seminario Diocesano de Santa María de Guadalupe para Diócesis Necesitadas de Sacerdotes, en Morelia. (1979-2013)

Abstract

The present research will show the historical process of an institute of education for the secular clergy, derived from the Second Vatican Council and subsequent documents, within the second half of the twentieth century and the first decade of the twenty-first, through Institutional History and other methodological tools. Founded under the name of Santa Maria de Guadalupe Diocesan Seminary for the Dioceses in Need of Priests, it was built in the Archdiocese of Morelia, Michoacan, which is different from the local Seminary in the same city. Some aspects such as the vocational-missionary approach for seminarians interested in the mission, the fact of providing priests to the dioceses in need of them, and the cooperativity between the Mexican and foreign episcopates for the diffusion of the institution to the ecclesial jurisdictions that turned it into an interdiocesan seminary, are addressed in the present document.

La presente investigación demostrará el proceso histórico de un instituto de formación de clero secular, derivado de los documentos del Concilio Vaticano II y posteriores, dentro de la segunda mitad del siglo XX y primera década del XXI, mediante la Historia Institucional y otras herramientas metodológicas. Fundado con el nombre de Seminario Diocesano de Santa María de Guadalupe para Diócesis Necesitadas de Sacerdotes, se edificó en la arquidiócesis de Morelia, Michoacán, distinguiéndose del Seminario local dentro de la misma ciudad: el enfoque vocacional-misionero para seminaristas interesados en la misión; el proveer sacerdotes a diócesis necesitadas de éstos; la cooperatividad entre el episcopado mexicano y extranjero para la difusión del plantel a las jurisdicciones eclesiásticas, convirtiéndolo por una parte en seminario interdiocesano.
