Las prácticas religiosas en honor a San Diego de Alcalá, Quiroga, Michoacán, 1950-2020

Abstract

On November 13, a religious celebration dedicated to the Patron Saint San Diego de Alcalá is held in the city of Quiroga, Michoacán. During this celebration the inhabitants perform religious practices that denote a great fervor and tradition. These types of practices are immersed in a local organizational system that is in charge of carrying them out, although they are not limited to this, since some of these practices go beyond the traditional to give way to particular expressions of the people or alternative groups. These religious practices are linked to historical and cultural perceptions that the individuals and groups that carry them out have as individuals and as part of a collectivity, which is reflected in the discourse they display during the religious celebration. Social and community aspects are mixed with the devotion to the Patron Saint and the way in which the inhabitants of Quiroga worship San Diego de Alcalá.

El día 13 de noviembre se realiza en la ciudad de Quiroga, Michoacán, una celebración religiosa dedicada al Santo Patrono San Diego de Alcalá. Durante esta celebración los habitantes realizan prácticas religiosas que denotan un gran fervor y tradición. Este tipo de prácticas están inmersas en un sistema de organización local que se encarga de realizarlas, aunque no se limitan a ello, pues algunas de estas, se salen de lo tradicional para dar paso a expresiones particulares de los o de grupos alternos. Estas prácticas religiosas están ligadas a percepciones históricas y culturales que los individuos y grupos que las realizan tienen como individuos y como parte de una colectividad, lo cual se ve reflejado en el discurso que despliegan durante la celebración religiosa. Los aspectos sociales y comunitarios se mezclan con la devoción al Santo Patrono y en la forma en que los habitantes de Quiroga le rinden culto a San Diego de Alcalá.
