The excessive application of agrochemicals for the control of agricultural pests and diseases has been generating environmental contamination and public health problems. To minimize this problem, various investigations have focused on finding natural compounds that allow the control of pest organisms and topathogenic micro-organisms. In this context, it has been reported that polar extracts of Rubus spp., (Blackberries and raspberries) inhibit the growth of human pathogens, an effect attributed mainly to polyphenols, with reports on topathogens being minimal, coupled with this in most of the studies. Samples are collected during a particular period of time and growth condition, factors that when modified can affect the bioactivity of the extracts. The objective of the present work was to evaluate the variation through time and space, in polyphenol content and its relation with the antibacterial activity of methanolic and ethanolic extracts of Rubus spp., Wild and in greenhouse. For this, leaves of two genotypes of Rubus adenotrichus, four genotypes of Rubus glaucus, one genotype of Rubus orthostachys and one genotype of Rubus pringlei were evaluated at different collection periods. The polyphenol content was quantified by colorimetric method using the Folin-Ciocalteu reagent and antibacterial activity, against the pathogens Pseudomonas sp., Pantoea stewartii and Clavibacter michiganensis subsp., Michiganensis (Cmm), by disk diffusion (600 µg of extract/disk) and serial dilution (600 µg extract/mL). In general, methanol extracted a greater amount of polyphenols, compared to ethanol.en
