Abstract: Three years ago we began the Master's courses in History at the Institute of Historical Research of the Michoacán University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo. Now, at the end of this stage in our academic training, we have also managed to finish the research work that was proposed as a thesis topic; The final result is what the reader has in their hands. In this work Epidemics and natural disasters in the Bishopric of Michoacán, 1737-1804, we address as central themes of our research some of the epidemics and natural disasters that occurred in the bishopric of Michoacán during the 18th century. Until a few years ago, the study of epidemics and especially of disasters had aroused little interest among historians; With some exceptions, these events were mentioned and endowed with some importance insofar as they influenced the economic and social activities of a region, but almost no attention was paid to the impact they had on aspects related to the development of ideas and mentality of the social sectors of that time. Recently, we have observed a revaluation of these topics by not only historians, but also other professionals in the social sciences and in general from other areas of scientific knowledge.
