La obra de Thomas Gage: una mirada hacia América desde afuera

Abstract

In 1492 the encounter with America would come to change from that year the relationships that had the countries of Europe among if and with the Asian East. This event would come to transform the development of the political nexuses that until then they were sustained among the powers hegemónicas of the Old World, for the entrance in scene of a new and vast continent. The discovery of America came to transform and polemizar all the environments that the Western culture considered for valid and almost inamovibles, from the most tangible elements as the economy, the politics and the geography, until the ideological and social elements. To this respect, England came to occupy a new paper, much more protagonistic for the change of the nautical nodalidad of the sea Mediterranean .especial communication focus for medieval Europe - he/she made Atlantic whose traffic for the English and French navigators, one of the points represented more difficult of negotiating and of assimilating for Spain with regard to its American new Kingdom.

En 1492 el encuentro con América vendría a cambiar desde ese año las relaciones, que tenían los países de Europa entre si y con el Oriente asiático. Dicho acontecimiento vendría a transformar el desarrollo de los nexos políticos que hasta entonces se sostenían entre las potencias hegemónicas del Viejo Mundo, por la entrada en escena de un nuevo y vastísimo continente. El descubrimiento de América vino a trastocar y polemizar todos los ámbitos que la cultura Occidental tenía por válidos y casi inamovibles, desde los elementos más tangibles como la economía, la política y la geografía, hasta los elementos ideológicos y sociales. A este respecto, Inglaterra vino a ocupar un nuevo papel, mucho más protagónico por el cambio de la nodalidad náutica del mar Mediterráneo –especial foco de comunicación para la Europa medieval- hacía el Atlántico, cuyo tránsito por los navegantes ingleses y franceses, representó uno de los puntos más difíciles de negociar y de asimilar por España con respecto a sus nuevos reinos americanos.
