Abstract

Carlos Fuentes was an author who in his work delved into the subject of Mexican identity. To address this issue some of his books dealt with historical episodes of Mexico. One of these events was the Mexican Revolution. As a writer, Carlos Fuentes used various rhetorical devices such as metaphor, symbol and myth. The myth was certainly one of the most important figures of speech for him because he argued that the novel had to be myth, language and structure. Carlos Fuentes well as seek the mythification consciously to make his novels full works. In the case of the Mexican Revolution, the author conducted a series of mythifications that make the warlike and social phenomenon as an important moment in the construction of being Mexican.

Carlos Fuentes fue un autor que en su obra incursionó en el tema de la identidad mexicana. Para abordar este tema algunos de sus libros trataron sobre episodios históricos de México. Uno de esos episodios fue la Revolución Mexicana. Como escritor, Carlos Fuentes empleó diversas figuras retóricas como la metáfora, el símbolo y el mito. El mito fue sin duda una de las figuras retóricas más importantes para él, pues argumentó que la novela debía ser mito, lenguaje y estructura. Así pues, Carlos Fuentes buscó la mitificación de manera consciente para hacer de sus novelas obras íntegras. En el caso de la Revolución Mexicana, el autor realizó una serie de mitificaciones que convierten al fenómeno bélico y social como un momento importante en la construcción del ser mexicano.
