Abstract: In this work he analyses and studies the book of short stories Céfero by the Michoacan artist Xavier Humberto Vargas Pardo and is placed in the respective historical context as heir to a long literary tradition in the history of Mexican literature. To this reason, the birth and development of the main cultural projects that manifested from the emergence of Mexico as an independent nation until the second half of the twentieth century is reviewed. Special emphasis is placed on the relationships between history and literature, as well as the most outstanding currents and artistic trends that brought with it the phenomenon of the Mexican Revolution of 1910. It also carries out a structural and contextual review of the work and discusses the concept of tradition, as well as the main themes that permeate Vargas Pardo’s narrative: humor, irony, ideology, language and violence. Also, the stylistic and conceptual features that make Céfero an exemplary work of the Michoacan narrative are detected.
