Duelo desautorizado en el aborto clandestino

Abstract

Nowadays there is a vast variety of articles and research about grief. However, there are certain losses that due to the unusual circumstances in which they take place, its acknowledgment is not socially permitted, leaving the bereaved person without a place where they can validate, recognize and express their sorrow. This type of grief, denominated by Doka (2002) as disenfranchised grief, presents unique characteristics such as: lack of rituals, absence of social support, the presence of shame and guilt, among others, which difficult the process of coping resiliently with grief. Therefore, this research had as its main objective to explore the manifestations of disenfranchised grief in nine women who have undergone clandestine abortions. Among the main results, obtained through depth interviewing of these women regarding their grief experience followed by content analysis of the resulting discourses, it was found, among other things, that clandestine abortion is related to the development of disenfranchised grief with traumatic components, and the constant presence of guilt and shame negatively impacts the self-concept of women, which in turn affects their development in various vital areas, thus complicating the resilient grieving process.

La literatura actual sobre duelo es bastante amplia, sin embargo, existen ciertas pérdidas que debido a las circunstancias en las que sucedieron los dolientes no encuentran un espacio social que les permita validar, reconocer y expresar su dolor. Esta clase de duelo, denominada por Doka (2002) como duelo desautorizado, reúne ciertas características como la falta de rituales, ausencia de soporte social, presencia de culpa y vergüenza, entre otras, que dificultan el proceso de la resiliencia ante el duelo. La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo conocer el fenómeno del duelo desautorizado y cuáles son las manifestaciones del mismo, en mujeres que optaron por abortar de manera clandestina. Para el cumplimiento de dicho objetivo, se llevaron a cabo entrevistas a profundidad a nueve mujeres que pasaron por dicha experiencia. Los discursos obtenidos se sometieron a análisis de contenido a partir de los cuales se observó que, entre otros hallazgos, un aborto clandestino está relacionado con el desarrollo de un duelo desautorizado con componentes traumáticos, y que la presencia constante de culpa y vergüenza impacta negativamente el autoconcepto de las mujeres, lo que afecta su desarrollo en diversas áreas vitales, complicando el proceso resiliente del duelo.
