Abstract: | Syndrome of unknown etiology characterized by musculoskeletal, chronic, diffuse and intense pain, fibromyalgia (FM) and is associated with alterations in mood, as anxiety in 47% of patients. Objective. Assess the levels of anxiety in patients with fibromyalgia and its association with socio-demographic characteristics. Material and methods: descriptive study, applied the Beck anxiety inventory to 39 patients with FM, to measure the levels of anxiety in mild, moderate and severe, the statistical nonparametric Chi-square was used to associate the anxiety levels and socio-demographic variables. Results: The average age of the women studied was 43.5±7.5 years, married in a 82.1%, love from home in a 64.1%, the average score of the BAI from 24.8±12.5. All presented anxiety; very low anxiety in a 23.1%, a 30.8% moderate anxiety and severe anxiety of a 23.1%. Conclusions: The FM patients have a level of anxiety of very low a severe and is associated with a the socio-demographic variables, dominated by their marital status in married women and by their occupation in housewives. Fibromialgia (FM) síndrome de etiología desconocida, caracterizado por dolor musculo-esquelético crónico, difuso e intenso, y se asocia con alteraciones en el estado de ánimo, con ansiedad en un 47% de los pacientes. Objetivo. Evaluar los niveles de ansiedad en pacientes con Fibromialgia y su asociación con las características socio-demográficas. Material y Métodos: Estudio descriptivo, se aplicó el Inventario de Ansiedad de Beck a 39 pacientes con FM, para medir los niveles de ansiedad en muy baja, moderada y severa, se empleó el estadístico no paramétrico Chi-cuadrado para asociar los niveles de ansiedad y las variables socio-demográficas. Resultados: La edad promedio de las mujeres estudiadas fue de 43.5±7.5 años, casadas en un 82.1%, amas de casa en un 64.1%, el puntaje promedio del BAI del 24.8±12.5. Todas presentaron ansiedad; ansiedad muy baja en un 23.1%, ansiedad moderada en un 30.8% y ansiedad severa de un 23.1%. Conclusiones: Las pacientes con FM tienen un nivel de ansiedad de muy baja a severa y se asocia a las variables sociodemográficas, predominando por su estado civil en mujeres casadas y por su ocupación en amas de casa. |
