Abstract: Recently, the Carbon-Hydrogen-Oxygen Networks have been proposed as tools to integrate multiple processes, mainly those belonging to the petrochemical industry, and other processes in whose inventories contain substances composed mainly of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Being the introduction of the C-H-O networks, the previous works have conceptualized the term, presented the problem of synthesizing them and proposed the first methods for the solution. In the development of this thesis, two optimization approaches based on mathematical programming are presented to design C-H-O networks that integrate streams from different industries to generate an eco-industrial park. The purpose of these methods is to determine the targets for the minimum use of fresh resources and the minimum waste generation. The mathematical models consider the satisfaction of the demands of different process units of different plants, and include the installation of new industrial facilities to produce and use most of the chemical species involved, but ensuring economic feasibility. A case study is presented to show the applicability of the proposed approaches.
