Abstract: The objectives outlined in this research are aimed at strengthening the approach to the right to self-determination of indigenous peoples, through communal autonomy; Which implies the need to identify the strengths and weaknesses of a community, based on the study of its collective institutions that govern indigenous social life, in particular, the Purépecha culture of Michoacan. In this way, the object of study is the system of indigenous institutions, which I define as that set of rules, norms, principles, System of Indigenous Institutions of the Purépecha Community of Comachuén, Municipality of Nahuátzen: Proposals for Local Development with Identity, values, forms of organization, representation and government that support the identity of a specific culture, which are defined and instituted by its own population to give certainty to the social, political, economic and cultural order of their society and territory. Specifically, the indigenous institutions of the community of Comachuén, municipality of Nahuátzen, belonging to the Purépecha village of Michoacán, are specifically addressed.
