Abstract: In this paper, a 2-D dimensionless model is presented for estimating the productive time of geothermal reservoirs, as well as a numerical estimate of the geothermal potential of low and medium enthalpy geothermal reservoirs in the state of Michoacán. To obtain the numerical model the equations of energy, continuity and Darcy's law were applied. The respective fluid injection and extraction considerations were made considering reservoirs with different boundary conditions to obtain an applicable and solvable model. To solve the equations numerically, the discretization schemes of finite differences and iterative methods for the resolution of systems of resulting equations for temperature and pressure were used. In addition, to determine the productivity time, the Crank-Nicolson and implicit methods for temporal estimates and simulations were applied. In order to solve the iterative systems, a computational tool has been developed in Matlab® that allows temporary and permanent simulations to be performed for each specific border case. The results obtained by the numerical model allowed to determine geothermal potential for different geothermal manifestations of the state of Michoacán. These results are between 1MWe and 30MWe for the manifestations used in the study, and the energy in the state estimates a value of 1.07423E + 15 KJ for a total of 30 manifestations used.
