Resumen : Between both [the two political big configurations, the Empire and the Papacy that neither they could be annihilated neither to be imposed one another, APM] they existed multitude in political ways... that they already existed or they arose whose existence it depended of their own capacity for to maintain it. In them the modern spirit appears European of the State, surrendering per time first freely to their own impulses, revealing with excessive frequency that wild selfishness that ago gibe of all right and he/she drowns in germ all healthy one formation. Now then, where this tendency is overcome or balanced somehow, something arises new and I live in the history: the State as calculated creation and conscious, as work of art (Burckhardt, t. I, P. 4; underlined our). Give of all right") previous to the civil "state everything it that, there where the tendency to the retroyección is braked or balanced, he/she gives as resultant something "new and I live in the history": the State as work of art. He/she devises this that he/she gives title to the whole first part of the study of J. Burckhardt and with the one that opens their book.
I, p. 4; subrayados nuestros).
