Zusammenfassung: The tomato is the most important vegetable in the world and the one with the highest economic value. Its demand increases continuously and with it its cultivation, production and trade. In the region of Apatzingán, Michoacán, only tomatoes are produced under the open sky, there is no information on studies of this crop under shade mesh conditions, nor on the effect of bottom fertilization and the application of silicon. That is why, during the months of December 2019-April 2020, at the Michoacana University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo, in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, this work was carried out, with the aim of evaluating the response of tomato varieties (Solanum lycopersicum L.) with bottom fertilization and silicon application on fruit production under shade mesh conditions. The experiment was carried out in a shade house, covered with 50% shade mesh, with the roof and sides with anti-aphid mesh of 25 * 40 threads per square inch. The indeterminate variety Patricia and the determined variety Gabriela were grown. The sowing was carried out in styrofoam trays of 200 cavities with peat moss, to later transplant them at 29 days. The bottom fertilization used was 113 kg ha-1 of N, 50 kg ha-1 of P and 110 kg ha-1 of K. The experiment consisted of 8 treatments that resulted from the combination of two levels of silicon (with and without), two genotypes (Gabriela determined genotype and Patricia indeterminate genotype) and background fertilization (with and without).
