La violencia política en la literatura testimonial de Colombia y México, 1958-1978

Abstract

This research thesis analyzes, from a social and cultural history perspective, the political violence in Colombia and México, presented between 1958 and 1978, based on six testimonial novels written and published during that period. To achieve this objective, first, the general sociopolitical context of both countries during the first half of the twentieth century will be presented, characterizing general aspects of the most outstanding political processes, and the role of the different governmental periods within the framework of the configuration of both political systems that resulted, in the case of Mexico in a single party system and in the case of Colombia in a two-party model; second, the political and social effects of these regimes and their impact on the political mobilization and radicalization of the conflict will be contextualized; third, the relationship and impact of such violence on the cultural, artistic and editorial life of those regimes will be shown, highlighting the role of groups, movements and literary magazines in the conflict; and fourth, the reading of six testimonial novels of the period will be presented, highlighting the different representations of violence based on relevant elements associated with the socio-political conflict in both countries.

La presente tesis de investigación analiza desde una perspectiva de la historia social y cultural, la violencia política en Colombia y México, presentada entre 1958 y 1978, a partir de seis novelas testimoniales escritas y publicadas durante ese periodo. Para lograr tal objetivo, primero se presentará el contexto general sociopolítico de ambos países durante la primera mitad del siglo XX, caracterizando aspectos generales de los procesos políticos más sobresalientes, y el papel de los diferentes periodos gubernamentales en el marco de la configuración de ambos sistemas políticos que derivaron, en el caso de México en un sistema de partido único y en el caso de Colombia en un modelo bipartidista; segundo, se contextualizarán los efectos políticos, y sociales de dichos regímenes y su impacto en la movilización política y radicalización del conflicto; tercero, se mostrará la relación y el impacto de dicha violencia en la vida cultural, artística y editorial de aquellos, resaltando el papel de los grupos, movimientos, revistas literarias frente al conflicto; y cuarto, la lectura de seis novelas testimoniales de la época, destacando las diferentes representaciones de la violencia a partir de elementos relevantes asociados con el conflicto sociopolítico en ambos países.
