Posicionamiento económico, social y cultural de la mujer en México. El caso del estado de Michoacán, 1950-1970

Abstract

In Mexico, as in other parts of the world, several studies have studied gender. In the 1950’s and 1970’s, the concept of “being a woman” changed in Mexico, and slowly, women were able to participate in universities and the job market. This was done because of the sacrifice, effort, and hard work of women. Women began to be considered as citizens and were able to access education, have financial independence, and conquered the right to choose how many children they had. This research shows the changes in the way in which women thought of themselves and not so easily allowed their husbands physically abuse them or deny them the right to go out to work or pursue a career. Through a qualitative and quantitative method, we studied the way in which women were able to achieve equality. What women had reached is not enough to fully achieve equality compared to the male gender, but us, women, will continue working towards this goal.

En México como en otras partes del mundo son innumerables los estudios donde se aborda la problemática de género. En las décadas de 1950 a 1970, podemos observar en México grandes cambios en el concepto del deber ser mujer, y como poco a poco las mujeres a través de gran esfuerzo, trabajo y sacrificio, logran introducirse en las universidades y en el mundo laboral. Adquieren el nivel de ciudadanas y mujeres mejor preparadas, con un poder adquisitivo propio, conquistan el derecho a decidir sobre cuántos hijos quieren tener. En esta investigación se muestra cómo va cambiando la forma de pensamiento de la mujer y su rol en la sociedad. A través del método cualitativo, estudiamos profundamente la forma en la que la mujer poco a poco va logrando esta igualdad. Lo alcanzado aún es poco para obtener una igualdad con el género masculino, pero las mujeres seguimos trabajando en ello.
