Resumen : Studies on orchid nutrition involving different concentrations of Nitrogen (N) and ammonium-nitrate ratios are incipient in the literature. In this sense, three concentrations of N and six proportions of ammonium-nitrate were evaluated in addition to the interaction between both factors. The experiment consisted of a factorial design composed of three concentrations of N: 9.2, 18.3 and 36.6 mmol L-1 and six proportions of ammonium-nitrate: 100: 0, 80:20, 60:40, 40:60, 20:80 And 0:100 for each species (Laelia speciosa and L. autumnalis), with five replicates. Each experimental unit was conformed by 50 protocorms, with a completely random distribution. For the preparation of the nutrient solutions, the ER medium was taken as the basis for the elimination of Ammonium Nitrate and formulated with a total of 41.10 Meq L-1 with micronutrients of the 10% MS culture medium. The variables evaluated were: fresh and dry weight of shoot and root, root length, shoots height, number of leaves, roots, shoots, PLB's (Protocorm like bodies) and pseudobulbs and total nitrogen in aerial part and root. The analysis of multivariate variance indicates that there is a high significant difference (P ? 0.001) in all variables evaluated. The best results of the variables evaluated for L. autumnalis were obtained with the interaction of the nitrogen level of 36.6 mM and the ratio 20:80 and 40:60 of NH4+ : NO3-, only the length of roots and height of the shoots had A better effect with nitrogen level (9.2 mM) and (18.3 mM) respectively.
