Recomendaciones de seguridad vial para reducir los accidentes de tránsito. Caso de estudio: carretera federal Morelia-Pátzcuaro

Abstract

Road safety is an issue of great importance worldwide, so much so that global organizations such as the WHO and the UN, have been concerned about this issue since it is among the ten leading causes of death in the world, according to research done by these institutions, these investigations have been so thorough that the results obtained have been projected statistically into the future resulting in surprising data, locating the cause of death from road traffic injuries in the fifth place, advancing four places, this being an alarming fact. This issue is not only concerned with the causes of death, but also by the severe damage it leaves to people, involved in accidents, since these damages are sometimes irreversible and irremediable. Road safety in Mexico has also been given importance, since agreements have been made with the WHO and the UN. In Mexico, the organizations responsible, such as the Ministry of Health and the SCT, prepared the National Road Safety Strategy 2011-2020, in 2010, in which they established a 50% reduction in traffic accidents at the end of the term, according to the data analyzed by the SCT, IMT and INEGI, the results have not been favorable. In this work on road safety, we analyzed a road section of the most important in the state, which has a high number of traffic accidents, finding among its main problems speeding, risky returns and poor application of the signaling horizontal. Emphasizing that speeding in the section is the main cause of accidents.

La seguridad vial es un tema de gran importancia a nivel mundial, tanto que organizaciones mundiales como la OMS y la ONU, se han preocupado por este tema ya que figura entre las diez primeras causas de muerte en el mundo, de acuerdo con investigaciones hecha por dichas instituciones, estas investigaciones han sido tan a fondo que los resultados obtenidos se han proyectado estadísticamente a futuro resultando datos sorprendentes, ubicando la causa de muerte por traumatismos por accidentes de tránsito en el quinto lugar, siendo esto un dato alarmante. Este tema no solo se preocupa por las causas de muerte, sino también por los daños severos que deja en personas, involucradas en los accidentes, ya que estos daños en ocasiones son irreversibles e irremediables. A la seguridad vial en México también se le ha dado importancia, ya que se han hecho acuerdos con la OMS y la ONU. En México las organizaciones encargadas como son la Secretaría de Salud y la Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes (SCT), elaboraron la Estrategia Nacional de Seguridad Vial 2011-2020, en el año 2010, en la cual establecieron reducir los accidentes de tránsito en un 50% al terminar el plazo, de acuerdo a los datos analizados por parte de la Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes, Instituto Mexicano del Transporte (IMT) e Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI), los resultados no han sido favorables. En este trabajo en materia de seguridad vial, se analizó un tramo carretero de los más importantes en el estado, el cual presenta un alto número de accidentes de tránsito, encontrando entre sus principales problemas el exceso de velocidad, retornos riesgosos y mala aplicación del señalamiento horizontal. Destacando que el exceso de velocidad en el tramo es el principal causante de los accidentes.
