Abstract

The challenge of design in a building with these characteristics is the environment that is created in it, in addition to the services it must offer. The property must be sensitive and responsive to the needs of the user, as well as the physical and emotional well-being of the user. Its highest priority is to give the elderly a decent place to live and where they can carry out activities and establish social relations, so commonly needed at this stage of life, where the majority of the elderly are in a state of isolation. Because the center provides care to the user rather than medical care, it is more important to focus on the elements that promote the well-being and comfort of the residents than in those of high technology. El proyecto a desarrollarse es un conjunto habitacional para adultos mayores con la capacidad de vivir independientemente, a pesas de algunas de las limitaciones propias de la edad. Un inmueble que brinde al anciano independiente la posibilidad de ejercer su autonomía en actividades comunes de la vida diaria y que le brinde servicios que aseguren su bienestar físico y mental que aumenten su calidad de vida. El reto de diseño en un edificio con estas características es el ambiente que se crea en él, además de los servicios que debe ofrecer. El inmueble debe ser sensitivo y responsivo a las necesidades del usuario, así como al bienestar físico y emocional del mismo. Su mayor prioridad es darle al anciano un lugar digno para habitar y en donde pueda llevar a cabo actividades y establecer relaciones sociales, tan comúnmente necesarias en esta etapa de la vida, en donde la mayoría de los ancianos se encuentran en un estado de aislamiento. Debido a que en el centro se brinda atención al usuario, más que atención médica, es más importante enfocarse en los elementos que promueven el bienestar y confort de los residentes que en aquellos de alta tecnología. Algunas de las características fundamentales de los espacios es que pueden ofrecer al usuario el apoyo para trasladarse fácilmente de un lugar a otro, por ende se utilizan barandales para que pueda sentarse y pararse sin ayuda, pisos antiderrapantes y espacios en un solo nivel para evitar caídas, señalización visible y llamativa, instalaciones de seguridad en baños y recamaras, accesibilidad para sillas de ruedas en todos los espacios del complejo, iluminación natural y artificial adecuada, sustitución de perillas por picaportes en las puertas y puertas corredizas para proporcionar mayor comodidad al usuario, etc.
