La región de la Tierra Caliente donde se ubica San Miguel Totolapan, Guerrero, es una zona rica en costumbres y tradiciones las cuales representan una forma de recordar el pasado histórico. La Casa de la Cultura Totoleapantli es la institución encargada de realizar estas actividades. Por lo que se realizó un proyecto que cumpla con las necesidades de la localidad para que se lleven a cabo varias actividades culturales como (danza, pintura, música, manualidades). La casa de la cultural es un espacio abierto a la comunidad que tiene por objeto representar y promover valores e intereses artístico-culturales dentro del territorio de un municipio. Tiene un carácter multidisciplinario y en él se desarrollan servicios culturales y actividades de creación, formación y difusión en diferentes ámbitos de la cultura, así como apoyo a organizaciones culturales. La casa de la cultura cuenta con espacios que prestan servicios para la enseñanza y práctica de las diferentes expresiones culturales, así como la difusión, formación, capacitación, investigación, organización y apoyo a la creación artística; dictando talleres en las diferentes áreas artísticas como son danza, teatro, narración oral, música, artes plásticas y literatura, entre otras; dirigidos a niños, jóvenes, adultos y adultos mayores. La casa de la cultura San Miguel Totolapan es un espacio destinado a mantener actividades que promueven la cultura entre sus habitantes. En el municipio de San Miguel Totolapan, Guerrero, se puede observar que hay carencia de espacios disponibles para la promoción y difusión de las manifestaciones culturales. El proyecto es una propuesta que se planteó por parte del H. Ayuntamiento Constitucional del Municipio de San Miguel Totolapan Guerrero, así como el estudio que se realizó en el municipio; el resultado fue la necesidad contar con un inmueble adecuado para la casa de la cultura del municipio.
