Employing an econometric model of multiple linear regression this work studies the relationship between wages, the exchange rate and productivity. The results shows, on the one hand, a negative relationship between wages and competitiveness; and on the other hand, a direct or positive relationship between the exchange rate and productivity in relation to competitiveness. The hypothesis of spurious competitiveness in the country given the negative impact of wages on competitiveness is demonstrated.
