The purpose of this work was to provide a space where the group of artists known for working inside “Foro CEPA” could further develop their arts and crafts. Said artists worked inside an abandoned building near downtown in the city of Morelia, located in the state of Michoacán, México. They cleaned the space and set it up for all kinds of artistic expressions, such as painting, dancing, theatrical presentations, poetry and sculpture. They worked in that manner taking advantage of the abandoned premises for a full year until they were evicted with the promise of relocation from the city government. What was proposed in this work was to give them a space to work in, next to an already stablished cultural center not so far away from the original location of “Foro CEPA”. Bringing together these two types of artists meaning they could work and help each bachelorDegreeWork. The kind of artists we are referring to are traditional, who were already stablished at the building, and the new type of artistic representations that this paper tries to showcase: urban artists such as graffiti painters, circus and juggling performers, urban dancers and such.
El propósito del presente trabajo fue el de proveer un espacio donde el grupo de artistas conocidos por trabajar dentro de “Foro CEPA” puedan seguir creando sus artes y talleres. Estos artistas trabajaron dentro de un edificio abandonado en el centro de la ciudad de Morelia, en Michoacán, México. Ellos limpiaron el espacio y lo acondicionaron para todo tipo de expresiones artísticas, como pintura, danza, teatro, poesía y escultura. Ellos trabajaron de esa manera usando un espacio que no les pertenecía, durante aproximadamente un año, hasta que fueron desalojados con la promesa del ayuntamiento de la ciudad de ser reubicados. Lo que se propuso en el presente trabajo fue el de darles un espacio donde trabajar, en conjunto con un centro cultural previamente establecido, relativamente cerca de donde se encontraba “Foro CEPA”. Al juntar estos dos tipos de artistas, se pretende que trabajen y se ayuden entre si. Con los dos tipos nos referimos a los tradicionales, que ya tenían su espacio en el edificio, y un nuevo tipo de artistas urbanos y sus representaciones que aquí se presentan: artistas de grafiti, cirqueros y malabaristas, artistas de baile urbano y demás.
